An immersive visit to an oyster farm by the water. You see how oysters are grown, learn about sustainable shellfish farming and taste them with a guide, in one of the most authentic settings in Florianópolis.
Built for incentive, corporate, educational and community groups.
It started as a tourism school project. Paula, then a student, met Alberto, a local oyster farmer in Ribeirão da Ilha who wanted to turn oyster farming into something visitors could experience.
Floripa Xperience was founded in 2014, and Ostra Xperience became a real tourism experience. Today we have been welcoming groups for 12 years.
How it works
About 2 hours, adjustable to your group.
01
Welcome at the farm
A view of the growing area and of Cambirela Mountain.
02
Talk with Alberto, the oyster farmer
30 to 40 minutes on how oysters are grown, the nursery and the process, with the oyster farmer.
03
Questions and conversation
Ask the people who do the work.
04
Guided tasting
With Doca. He shucks the oysters and shows you how to try them, raw or steamed.
05
Toast
Sparkling wine from the Santa Catarina highlands (with and without alcohol), local cachaça and water.
06
Free time
Photos with your group. Lunch is optional, on request.
The tasting
Doca shucks the oysters right there and walks you through each step if you want to try them raw: how to open one, how to taste it and what goes well with the sparkling wine.
This is when the group laughs, loosens up and sees why this is different.

Groups larger than 45 go in sequence, 45 at a time, on a schedule agreed with the agency.
Educational tourism: oyster farming as a living classroom for groups of 25 to 45 children.
Hands-on activities tied to the school curriculum (history, geography and biology) plus culture, economics and entrepreneurship, elementary through high school.
Includes the farm visit, a talk with the oyster farmer, a display of the farming tools and live oysters in an aquarium.
Exclusive from start to finish: enjoy Ostra Xperience with the privacy only a reserved group can have.
For 4 or more guests, our team is dedicated to your group and tailors the program to your needs. You choose the number of oysters and the drinks; anything beyond the base package is quoted separately.
